Liposuction myths worth dropping

It is not weight loss, not permanent immunity, and not a substitute for fitness.

Few cosmetic procedures carry as much misinformation as liposuction. Clearing a few myths helps patients decide wisely.

Myth one: it is a weight-loss method. It is not; the fat removed is modest in weight, and the scale barely moves, it is about shape, not pounds. Myth two: removed fat means you can eat freely. False; remaining fat cells still grow with weight gain. Myth three: results are instant. The final contour takes months as swelling resolves. Myth four: it tightens skin. On its own it does not, and loose skin may need separate treatment.

The accurate picture is unglamorous but freeing: liposuction is a precise contouring tool for stubborn fat in healthy people near their goal weight, with results that reward a stable lifestyle and patience through a recovery that takes months to settle. Patients who understand that come away satisfied; those chasing the myths come away disappointed regardless of how well the surgery went.
